I painted the bud first. The anticipation. The energy and hope of becoming. A reminder that there is more to be revealed, more beauty to come. The petals of the peonies delight me in their asymmetry and unpredictability, reminding me to seek beauty in unexpected places.

It is my hope and prayer that each of us open to more kindness and beauty in our lives, our communities, and our countries. There is more of the story to unfold and in my wisest moments I believe in beauty, hope and possibility still to be revealed in unexpected places.
