One Another

$975.00

This piece is inspired by dahlias--an overflowing amount that a dear friend lavished upon me. (I named the source photo for this piece, "Paint immediately").

In painting these flowers I felt such gratitude for the friends that brought such beauty to my doorstep.  I love the way there are so many buds, beauty still to come. This is what my closest friends remind me of, the brightness and hope of this moment and holding tender hope for the future as well.

I call this dahlia piece "one another" inspired by Pema Chodron's words, "The best thing we can do for our teachers, ourselves, and the world is to think of benefiting rather than harming one another." Amen and amen.

Completed in December, I recognize the ways this season can be filled with heartache and grief. I offer this tender hope for each of us:

May we allow others to know us deeply. May we be alert and present to know others deeply. May we not shy away from vulnerability--its expression or witness. May we be open and welcoming to care for others and to accept that care. May we know a togetherness that makes us more beautiful and strong with friends, family, neighbors, and our human kin known and unknown to us.
