Feel Good Story!
Sometimes you send your paintings out into the world and never quite know how they are received...
And then special happens.
A pediatric subspecialty practice in another state — a place that supports children with complex medical needs and the parents who love them — filled their waiting room with a collection of my work. Elephants, giraffes, birch trees…(pictured below)
They sent the kindest message about how the art made them feel while they were waiting:
“We were very nervous for the appointment… I felt calm and happy just seeing them.”
Image of message from parent in waiting room.
Painting is what helped me navigate Thyroid Cancer… and it’s what continues to sustain me each day in finding my way back to kindness and joy.
So this—this is my deepest hope.
That my art might offer even a small sense of comfort or encouragement to someone else in the middle of a hard moment.
That in spaces where people are holding fear, grief, or the unknown…
there might also be beauty.
Something gentle enough for a child to connect with,
and spacious enough for a parent to breathe into.
A soft place to land.
Maybe even a moment of ease.
Still taking this in this special moment.
Thank you for being here, and for letting my work live in places like this and in your homes. I'm so touched that this creative practices is an unexpected doorway to connection with people near and far.
